The quaint village of San Martin de Los Andes is located in the Patagonia of Argentina set on the shores of Lake Lacar. It is characterized by the peace and quietness provided by the large extension of green land and the 400.000 hectares of the Lanin National Park. Similar to Bariloche but with a more European style seen in architecture, restaurants and shops.
Lakes, waterfalls, mineral water springs and volcanoes can be visited either with organized excursions of one or more days or by renting a car. |

San Martin de los Andes is a year round tourist destination due to its magnificent village charm, culture, lakes, forests, mountains, and of course skiing! Downtown San Martin de los Andes is a 20 minute drive from the ski resort of Chapelco. However, ground transfers are provided by most major hotels and hostels as part of your accommodation price.
We recommend a trip to Chapelco for any skier, snowboarder or family that wants to enjoy a more overall vacation or experience than just skiing or snowboarding while in Argentina. |

While there is still good skiing and steep runs at Chapelco, we find it important to mention that the snow at Chapelco and in Patagonia is a lot less reliable than in the Northern Andes resorts of Las Lenas, Portillo and Valle Nevado and you often must download for about half of the season and cannot ski to the base.
