Ushuaia (Cerro Castor Ski Resort)
Ushuaia is the southernmost city in the world, located at the tip of Argentina on the shores of the Beagle Channel and surrounded by the Martial Mountains. It is the capital of the Tierra del Fuego National Park, Antarctica and Southern Atlantic Islands Province, and its superlative location allows you to enjoy the sea, mountains and forests and of course skiing at Cerro Castor.
Of course you want to ski here at Cerro Castor ski resort.
|
|
Activities such as boat rides to see Sea Lions and other animals and small islands, hikes at Tierra Del Fuego national park, numerous cross country ski areas, and dog sled rides and snow shoeing are always available.
Downtown Ushuaia is a 25 minute drive from the ski resort of Cerro Castor. However, ground transfers are provided by most major hotels and hostels as part of your accommodation price or as an extra option. |
You can store your ski or snowboard equipment at the hill regardless of if you are renting there or not. We recommend a trip to Cerro Castor for any skier, snowboarder or family that wants to enjoy a more overall vacation or experience than just skiing or snowboarding.
Cerro Castor has the best beginner to intermediate terrain, modern lifts, and rental equipment in all South America.
|
Also recommend this resort if you do not need the possibility of skiing steep 45 degree couloirs while in Argentina, but want what is most important a GUARANTEE OF SNOW.
Due to the colder temperatures Cerro Castor has the longest season and best guarantee of snow and none of the high winds like you can experience in the north of Argentina and Chile.
While Cerro Castor does not usually get big storms, constant 5-10 cms snowfalls are the norm. At Cerro Castor the snow is the most reliable of anywhere in South America.
|
While there is good skiing, steep runs, backcountry at Cerro Castor, we find it important to mention that the ski resort is not as big and as steep as the Northern Andes resorts of Las Lenas, Portillo and Valle Nevado.
However, Cerro Castor has fastest and most modern lifts in South America as well as the best on hill restaurants, facilities, grooming, and progressive beginner to advanced terrain in South America.
Cerro Castor is one of the better resorts to race train so please contact us to organize your perfect race team training experience to Argentina. |
