Caviahue, also known as Snow Town, is a mountain village in Patagonia just northwest of Neuquen. This is a modern ski resort on the side of a volcano that caters to all skiers. There are trails for all abilities and ski lifts that can move 8000 skiers per hour. This means more snow time than line time even in peak season. The longest trail in South America is here at 8 km long. You can make your way to the crater of the volcano on a snow cat. Once there you can see other volcanoes such as Lanin, Domuyo and Antuco. You can also view a glacier and acid lake. When done you can ski down on a variety of trails or return on the snow cat that brought you up. The nearby village has all the services you could want to complete your ski holiday including ski rental and ski and snowboard schools. 2012 Scheduled Opening date: July 2012 Scheduled Closing date: September Top Elevations: 2068 Mts.
