Fortín Chacabuco Ranch Horseback riding
Duration: Full Day or Half Day
Departure: 10 hs.
Return: 17 hs. or 14 hs.
This 5000 has. Estancia is only 20 km. East from Bariloche, at Neuquén Province. Their main activity (besides tourism) is sheep breeding; therefore the improvement of this cattle is an important goal. This is how they have achieved being the firsts in the area to artificially inseminate females with frozen sperm.
In 1883 as the argentine army was trying to gain terrain over the mapuches (local natives), General Villegas ordered the construction of Fort Chacabuco very close to the nowadays called Mount Fortín.
This Estancia has a huge variety of geography, flora and fauna as it is located on the transition area between the steppe and the forests. With wonderful horses, excellent guides will show you some of these different places: panoramic views, the Andes and luckily some red dear, may be a European hare or a red fox will complete this adventure tour.
You can choose whether to visit this place on a whole day tour having for lunch a typical argentine barbeque and some coffee, tea or “mate cocido” with argentine fried cakes later, or in half a day taking the afternoon snack.
