Mendoza

Mendoza is definitely considered a unique city in Argentina and South America, the third largest in population at  behind Buenos Aires and Cordoba.

While visiting Mendoza and its surrounding areas, you will not only be able to admire all the nature all within a close proximity to the city,  but also the beautiful city and its suburbs with its warm people, history, food and wine.

Mendoza is located in the west of the Argentinian Republic,  in the Province of Mendoza.

It is a 3 hour drive from Portillo Ski Resort in Chile and 6 hours drive from Las Lenas Ski Resort.  It has a population of 1.5 million of inhabitants so it is a big city but more relaxed than Buenos Aires in every way with respects to traffic, going out, cleaner and less pollution and the way of life.

The people of Mendoza honor nature and their hard work has produced a cornucopia of greenery throughout the immaculately manicured streets and Mendoza won most beautiful Argentine city in 2004.

Attractive plazas, broad avenues with ceramic-tiled sidewalks, numerous parks and fountains, rose gardens, and pedestrian walkways contribute to Mendoza's unique charm.

The most famous walkwayo is the Peatonal Sarmiento located perpendicular to the Park Hyatt and San Martin street in the centre.  This pedestrian only street features an array of outdoor cafe's and restaurants as well as shops.

The most well known Plaza and most important one in Mendoza is Plaza de Independencia and is where the Peatonal Sarmiento begins. In the evenings and weekends there are local artists selling a variety of goods at this Plaza.

Mendoza's restaurants and nightlife are legendary, not only because of their quality, but as having lower prices and not as much rush and line ups than in Buenos Aries and Las Lenas.  Don't get us wrong, still very busy places. Longtime clients and ourselves prefer going out in Mendoza rather than Buenos Aries or Las Lenas.  Be sure to check out our Mendoza restaurants and nighlife sections for the best places to eat, hang out, have a casual drink, or drink 5 Vodka con Speeds and come home at 8AM.

Mendoza has a variety of hotels and hostels that will suit whatever you are looking for in accommodation.  The province of Mendoza offers the possibility to do a variety of tourist activities at any time of the year.  Even during the winter when you are able to ski at Las Lenas, Valle Nevado or Portillo, it is still warm enough to go hiking, horseback ridiing, paragliding, vineyard visiting, visit nearby thermal baths and in September white water rafting in Mendoza.
