Los Penitentes is a mid sized ski resort that provides a full day of skiing. Located between Portillo and Las Lenas terrain here is suitable for beginners through advanced skiers. There are only a few lifts to reach the many areas available. The beginner terrain spreads out east from the base complex on four popular rope tows, there is a run on either side of each. Intermediate skiers will head to the top of the San Antonio run. Advanced and expert skiers head left from the top of the Guanaco chairlift to ski the Morro Godoy and Tobogan runs. On the right side, try the Valle Azúl bowl which drops into the Cruz de Caña Valley. There are lots of off-piste skiing opportunities but be aware that they can be quite demanding. Extreme avalanche danger exists at this resort. You must be cautious at all times and pay particular attention after storms. 2012 Scheduled Opening date: July 2012 Scheduled Closing date: September Top Elevations: 10,479 feet Base levation: 8,460 feet
