Termas de Chillan

We are currently preparing our 2009 rates to go live.
However you can contact us now for 2009 rates and to book.

Termas de Chillan offers you the opportunity to be at a
ski resort in Chile in the middle of truly unique and amazing natural surroundings. The natural reserve of
Bío Bío is dominated by the Chillan volcano, with hot
springs, thermal baths, forests and snowed-capped mountains.  The beauty of Termas de Chillan is that
there are lots of things to do outdoors than just skiing.

You can go snowshoeing, dog
sledding, snowmobiling + cross
country skiing.  Termas de Chillan
offers a variety of accomodation
from luxury hotels to Condos.
The ski resort is 6 hours from
Santiago, 2.5 hours from
Concepcion (which has an aiport),
1 hour from the city of Chillan,
and 15 minutes from the
neighbouring small town of
Las Trancas.

The top hotels are the Gran Hotel
Termas (which is one of the best
hotels in all of Chile) and Hotel
Prigallo and there are a variety of
condo options.  All budget and backpacker options such as cabins
and hostels are located in Las Trancas.

While there is still good skiing and
steeper runs + more bowls than the Argentina Patagonia resorts, we find it important to mention that the snow at Termas de Chillan is a lot less reliable
than in the Northern Andes resorts,
but more reliable than more southern Chilean and Argentine resorts.

Magali Roy - Mark Lasseter

Sometimes the resort has warmer temperatures and more rainfall than
Portillo, Las Lenas and Valle Nevado.
Sometimes you must download for part
of the season from the top and cannot
ski to the base.  However, in weak snow years, strangely enough Termas de
Chillan usually gets the most snow of all resorts. Termas de Chillan has surface
lifts like t-bars and pomas in the high
alpine so easier to access during windy periods and after big storms than other resorts like Las Lenas and Portillo.

Dogs in Termas Taking a Break

We recommend a trip here for any skier, snowboarder or family that enjoys skiing and want a truly different resort and love the outdoors and nature. There is however not huge nightlife at the resort like Las Lenas and Bariloche. We recommend going to Snowpub in Las Trancas for nightlife.
