Caviahue mountain village and ski resort is located at the foot of the Copahue Volcano on the shores of the homonymous lake with ancient monkey puzzle forests, lakes, turquoise-colored lagoons, basalt terraces and cascades. When the mapuche people were heading for the hot springs of the Copahue Volcano, they used to stop their march at Caviahue, so baptized because it means “site of gathering and celebration”. It is located 1,647 meters over sea level, in the heart of the Andes Mountain Range in a narrow and steep valley to the east. Caviahue is 356 km from Bariloche, 600 km from San Rafael and 100 km from Neuquen, the closest city and airport and bus station to Caviahue. |
