Getting There

  

Pucon is a beautiful city in the 4th Region of Chile La Araucania. It is not difficult to get to and can be accessed by many different  ways . The town is well set up for tourism which allows visitors to enjoy its attractions without difficulty.

Pucon is Situated 789 Kilometers south of Santiago and 112 k from Temuco the regions capital.

Pucon can be accessed by air, road or train.

 

  

By Air

 Pucon airport has regular flights from Santiago during the high season (January and February) There are also some flights at the weekend. The flight takes about an hour.

The rest of the year it is possible to fly to Temuco from Santiago. There are daily flights. From Temuco the bus terminal in the center of town provides buses to Pucon every 15 minutes. Temuco is 112 km form Pucon and the bus takes 90 minutes. It is also possible to hire a car in Temuco and drive to Pucon.

 

  

By road 
There are 3 ways to Pucon by road. Form the north, east and south. The eastern road is an international pass between Chile and Argentina.

 
From the north

The road is connected from  Santiago to Pucon via Temuco. Santiago is  789 km from Pucon and the drive takes 9- 10 hours. The road is the North Pan-American which is a well manintained paved road. The road passes through Temuco, Freire and  Villarrica on the way to Pucon.

  

From the South
There is a road from Puerto Montt the capital of Chile´s  5th region Los Largos. Puerto Montt is 340k from Pucon and takes 5 hours. The road is the Pan-American south which is a well maintained paved road.

  

From the east
From San Martin de Los Andes in Argentina the road leads to the border crossing  in Chile Mamuil-Malal.It is also know as the Tromen. San Martin is 242km from Pucon.
 

  

Recommendations 
If you opt for the boarder crossing road in Winter travel in a 4x4

You are not allowed to bring fruit or fresh products into the country without permission

From the North there are buses everyday .

Most buses that run the Santiago to Pucon route leave in the evenings 
 

  

By train Not functioning until farther notice 
The train is an alternative which combines rail and road. The train leaves from Santiago and arrives at Temuco 9 hours later. The bus takes passengers for the last part of the journey from Temuco to Pucon. It’s a daily service. The train leaves Santiago at 22.30. It is recommended you reserve tickets especially in the high season
